In response to the recent health concerns due to the COVID-19 virus and the stay-at-home orders, SCHARP assures our visitors that we are taking proper precautions and strictly adhering to all advice provided by the CDC and the local government officials while our local clinics, agency locations, and residential homes continue to serve our families.
Southern California Health & Rehabilitation Program (SCHARP) was founded February 1994 as a non-profit entity for the purpose of providing mental health and rehabilitation services to vulnerable ethnic minority populations in Southern California. Founded by two African American psychiatrists who were disillusioned with the traditional services provided to severely and persistently mentally ill individuals who are members of minority groups, they developed services that meet the special needs of these communities, along with those of the homeless mentally ill and homeless dually diagnosed.
I remind my clients each day that
“Mental illness is not a personal failure,
but a journey we overcome together.”
